Superintendent

Summary of Position:
Reporting to the Operations Manager, the Superintendent coordinates and supervises the construction process from the conceptual development stage, through to final construction. The Superintendent ensures that projects are completed on time and within budget.

Duties & Responsibilities (include but are not limited to):
• Ensure sufficient deployment and productivity of work crews.
• Engage in open communication with Project Managers, Operations Managers and Division Managers and report any issues which could affect project plans.
• Allocate resources where appropriate to achieve project safety, schedule, cost, scope and quality objectives.

Duties & Responsibilities (include but are not limited to):
• Lead and direct people, equipment, and resources for all construction.
• Ensure sufficient deployment and productivity of all work crews.
• Always engage in open communication with the Superintendent and Project Manager; always report any issues which could affect the project plan.
• Use survey equipment to ensure proper grading or ask for grade checker when needed.
• Organize and coordinate the daily activities of all crew members, subcontractors, equipment and utilize corrective action to keep the project on time and on budget.

Asphalt Seal Laborer

Summary of Position:
Reporting to both, the Superintendent and the Foreperson, the Asphalt Seal Laborer involves paving and pavement maintenance. The Laborer will perform tasks involving physical labor and may also require routine repair and maintenance of equipment in addition to other duties.

Duties & Responsibilities (include but are not limited to):
• Use of push blower and/or wire broom to clean surface prior to application of seal coat or crack fill material.
• Preparation of surface utilizing an asphalt crack router to open surface cracks prior to filling.
• Application of crack fill material utilizing a crack seal kettle and a wand.
• Application of seal coat material utilizing a long handled squeegee and/or spray wand.
• Manual labor may include shoveling, use of broom and raking.
• If certified, occasional equipment operation; including a skid steer or highway broom.
• General laborer duties associated with asphalt paving, patching or prep crews.
• Set up the equipment as needed, inspect it, clean it and perform routine maintenance or minor repairs.
• Signal operators of construction equipment to facilitate alignment and movement of materials.
• Assist in the placement, moving and dismantling of signs, barricades, cones and other traffic control
devices.
• Maintains a clean job site: picks up all tools and equipment and secures job site each day to eliminate potential hazards.

CDL Truck Driver (Working Driver)

Summary of Position:
Reporting to multiple persons of the management team, the CDL Driver safely operates the vehicles involved in the construction industry.

Duties & Responsibilities (include but are not limited to):
• Responsible for safely hauling asphalt paving materials and equipment.
• Will be required to maintain necessary logs, driving records and DOT certifications.
• Complete Daily pre and post trip inspections of vehicle.
• Complete driving assignments in a timely and safe manner.
• Ensure the equipment has current registration and insurance.
• Responsible for loading and unloading equipment.
• Responsible for asking someone to guide you when loading or unloading equipment.

Shop/Field Mechanic

Summary of Position:
Reporting to the Director of Fleet, the Shop/Field Mechanic is responsible for assembling, maintaining and repairing machinery and vehicles. The Shop/Field Mechanic will be responsible for ensuring functionality and reliability of machines, engines and mechanical systems.

Duties & Responsibilities (include but are not limited to):
• Build and assemble machines or mechanical components according to requirements.
• Inspect machines, engines, transmissions etc. and run diagnostic tests to discover functionality issues.
• Conduct repairs aiming for maximum reliability.
• Responsible for all 90 day BIT Inspections & PSIP Testing.
• Responsible for providing documentation of all maintenance and repairs.
• Responsible for coordination of equipment repairs requested by Superintendent and Foreperson.
• Troubleshoot reported problems and resolve them in a timely manner.
• Perform thorough maintenance on machinery, equipment and systems.
• Clean and apply lubricants to machinery components.
• Replenish fluids and components of engines and machinery.
• Provide consultation on correct maintenance and preventative measures to machine or vehicle users.
• Undertake other duties as assigned (e.g. repair of hydraulic systems, etc.)
• Keep logs of work and report on issues.
• Keeps equipment available for use by completing preventive maintenance schedules; installing component and part upgrades; completing winterization procedures.
• Corrects vehicle deficiencies by removing, repairing, adjusting, overhauling, assembling, disassembling, and replacing major assemblies, sub-assemblies, components, parts, or systems, such as, power and drive trains, electrical, air conditioning, fuel, emission, brake, steering, hydraulics; completes machine shop operations; making adjustments and alignments, gear tooth contact, valve mechanisms, governors, oil systems, control linkages, clutches, and traction units.
• Verifies vehicle performance by conducting test drives; adjusting controls and systems.
• Complies with federal and state vehicle requirements by testing engine, safety, and combustion control standards.
• Maintains vehicle records by annotating services and repairs.
• Keeps shop equipment operating by following operating instructions; troubleshooting breakdowns; maintaining supplies; performing preventive maintenance; calling for repairs.
• Contains costs by using warranty; evaluating service and parts options.
• Keeps supplies ready by inventorying stock; placing orders; verifying receipt.

Qualifications:
• High school diploma is preferred; Certification from a vocational school or completion of apprenticeship is a definite plus.
• Valid certification (ie. ASE) is preferred.
• Proven experience as Mechanic.

Roller Operator

Summary of Position:
Reporting to the Foreperson, the Roller Operator is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of Breakdown Rollers, and Finish Rollers. The Roller Operator distributes, breaks down, compresses and gives a finished surface to cooling asphalt. Roller operators may also be required to operate Steel Drum and Pad Foot Rollers to compact and seal earth fills, sub grades, and flexible base.

Duties & Responsibilities (include but are not limited to):
• Operate the roller and other heavy equipment in a safe and appropriate manner.
• Perform daily maintenance and safety checks of equipment; always ensuring the back-up alarm is operable.
• Prior to operating, always check oil and hydraulic fluids.
• Proper loading and unloading is required.
• Safely operate roller in successive overlapping passes over surfaces to be compacted, rolling subgrade and asphalt to desired compaction and smoothness.
• Determine speed and direction of machine, based on knowledge of compressibility of material under changing temperatures, so that ridges do not form by excessive pressure.
• Pound surfaces using vibratory plate compactor, hand tamp, or guide portable power roller over areas not accessible to road roller.
• Operate self-propelled steel-wheeled, rubber-tired, vibrator, segmented, or other type of roller to compact earth, subgrade, sub-base and asphalt surfaces
• Operate the Breakdown roller to massage hot mix asphalt into place.
• Compress hot mix asphalt to desired compaction.
• Operate the Finish Roller in successive overlapping passes to apply final finish, and remove imperfections with a finish roller.
• Operate Pad Foot Roller, using vibrate when necessary, until ground surface is hard.
• Operate Smooth Drum Roller, to seal subgrade and base surfaces.
• Operate other heavy equipment and other construction related duties as required.

Summary of Position:
Reporting to both, the Superintendent and the Foreperson, the Equipment Operator is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of multiple pieces of construction equipment. The Equipment Operator is proficient in the use of a diverse range of construction equipment, including, Excavators, Loaders, Dozers, Rollers, Graders, Pavers, Skid Steers and other pieces of equipment.

Duties & Responsibilities (include but are not limited to):
• Capable of operating multiple pieces of construction equipment used in construction, base preparation and construction, and paving.
• Operate all heavy equipment in a safe and appropriate manner as well as CHP requirements.
• Perform daily maintenance and safety checks of equipment.
• Conduct pre-operational checks on equipment, and clean, lubricate and refill the equipment as necessary.
• Maneuver heavy equipment into loading or unloading positions, following signals from loading crew as needed; check that the vehicle position is correct and any special loading equipment is properly positioned.
• Ensure a sound understanding of the issues involving ground disturbance.
• Use various pieces of equipment to perform fine grading and finishing, sloping and banking, backfilling, demolition, ditching, loading, excavating and stockpiling.
• Operate equipment on public roadways, maintaining proper awareness of ones surroundings.
• Perform routine cleaning and maintenance to ensure smooth operation of the equipment.

• Interpret blueprints and read survey stakes with a view to establish appropriate grades.

The Safety Manager is primarily responsible for leading and managing the Company’s safety initiatives and safety loss control programs, and the development of a safety and risk management culture. • Researches new regulations and developments in the field of Health and Safety and recommend changes in the Company’s program.

Accounts Payable Administrator

Summary of Position:
Reporting to the Controller, the Accounts Payable Administrator completes payments and controls expenses by receiving, processing, verifying, and reconciling invoices.

Duties & Responsibilities (include but are not limited to):
• Reconciles processed work by verifying entries and comparing system reports to balances.
• Charges expenses to accounts and cost centers by analyzing invoice/expense reports; recording entries.
• Pays vendors by monitoring discount opportunities; verifying federal id numbers; scheduling and preparing checks; resolving purchase order, contract, invoice, or payment discrepancies and documentation; insuring credit is received for outstanding memos; issuing stop-payments or purchase order amendments.
• Pays employees by receiving and verifying expense reports and requests for advances; preparing checks.
• Maintains accounting ledgers by verifying and posting account transactions.
• Verifies vendor accounts by reconciling monthly statements and related transactions.
• Maintains historical records by microfilming and filing documents.
• Coordinate documents for billings, materials, and subcontractor costs.
• Reports sales taxes by calculating requirements on paid invoices.
• Pursue and maintain approvals for invoices.
• Generate check runs.
• Interface effectively with outside customers and employees.
• Process credits and back charges properly.
• Resolve quote and invoice pricing with suppliers in a timely manner.
• Review and reconcile supplier statements.

Qualifications:
• High School Diploma or G.E.D. required; AA or higher preferred; BS degree in Finance, Accounting or Business Administration.
• Knowledge of office management systems and procedures as well as working knowledge of office equipment.
• Minimum 1-3 years of experience in accounts payable.
• Proven working experience as accounts payable clerk.
• Solid understanding of basic bookkeeping and accounting payable principles.

Accounts Receivable Administrator

Summary of Position:
Reporting to the Controller, the Accounts Receivable Administrator obtains revenue by processing invoices; resolving missed payments; updating financial records.

Duties & Responsibilities (include but are not limited to):
• Collects accounts by contacting customers; investigating circumstances of non-payment; negotiating and resolving conflicts; expediting payment.
• Meets accounts receivable operational standards by contributing information to strategic plans and reviews; implementing production, productivity, quality, and customer-service standards; resolving problems; identifying system improvements.
• Meets accounts receivable financial standards by providing annual accounts receivable budget information; monitoring expenditures; identifying variances; implementing corrective actions.
• Supports financial planning by forecasting.
• Updates receivables by coordinating and monitoring sales order processing and bank remittance transactions.
• Maintains financial security by adhering to internal accounting controls.
• Maintains accounting ledgers by posting monthly account transactions.
• Protects organization’s value by keeping information confidential.
• Accomplishes accounting and organization mission by completing related results as needed.
• Reviews customer accounts, gathers data for lien notices based on applicable state law, and forwards to clerk for processing to send lien notices to the customer, general contractor, bond company, and/or the owner of the construction project when appropriate.
• Reviews, signs, and notarizes lien waivers upon customer request when appropriate.
• Copies, scans, and files documents occasionally.
• Checks and responds to email and voicemail regularly, takes incoming phone calls.
• Prepares, sorts, prints, copies, files, and mails receipts, correspondence, and other requested items
• Solicits assistance from AR Clerks on various tasks.
• Assists with related special projects, as required.
